The Ashton in Makerfield Community Forum is an independent website dedicated to recording events in the local community. It was established in 1999 to report the work of the Ashton Town Centre Group and its successor, the Ashton Community Forum, a non-political community association. Established to bring local residents together in the interests of the town.

Council Invite Residents to Meeting

Wigan Council are inviting residents to have their say about “The Deal” project.

“The Deal is an informal agreement between the council and everyone who lives or works here to work together to create a better borough.

We have committed to a series of pledges and in return need residents and businesses to play their part too.”

Meeting is open to all residents on the 16th of September 2105.

New Community Group Formed

September the first saw the beginning of the community group “Friends of Ashton Heath”. They are on the lookout for volunteers who want help maintain the heath for all to enjoy and any ideas of how the heath can be best used.

Next Meeting: Tuesday 6th October 2015 7.00pm at the Eagle and Child.
